22nd Annual St Teath Village Show 2012

Saturday, August 18, 2012.

Presidents: Terry and Jean Burden

Show secretaries: David Jasper and Elaine Everitt

An increase in entries for the home produce and handicrafts sections more than compensated for the dip in fruit and vegetable entries at St Teath Village Show. However, despite the poor summer weather, gardeners still managed to produce fruit and vegetables of high quality that left many of those attending feeling somewhat inadequate. It appeared that not all local gardens had been thoroughly battered by wind and rain as the impressive show of cut flowers confirmed. A wide range of blooms, imaginatively arranged, produced a magnificently coloured display.

Traditional baking skills were much in evidence amongst the pasties, splits, cakes, jams and preserves that must have presented the judges with a challenging task. Young budding bakers showed their talents in the children's section with their decorated cup cakes.

The children's craft sections included a fine range of weaving, painting, greetings cards, and vegetable animals. The future the Show is surely in good hands.

The handicrafts and art section ranged from knitting to embroidery, painting and pencil sketches to model making, toys to bags. The intrinsic quality, imagination and creative skills displayed in the exhibits left many visitors to ponder, 'How do they do it?'

The Joint Presidents, Jean and Terry Burden, who have supported and exhibited in the show over more than twenty years, presented trophies to the winning exhibitors.
