Please help Elaine Fell raise £1,000 for Charity

Final Update

Elaine, Debbie and Ruby would like to say a huge Thank You to everyone who sponsored or donated money to their charitable cause. We are very pleased to announce that the total money raised is a staggering £3069.11

Me and my best mate Debs and Ruby her little terrier cross are going to walk the entire Cornwall Coast Path during September - all 273 miles of it! We are by no means the fittest of people and it will be quite a challenge for us.

To give us the incentive to keep on walking we want to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charities.

THE STROKE ASSOCIATION, CANCER RESEARCH, and THE BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION

The reason why:
Over the past two years I have lost two very close friends. Jayne Stark, who you all know, died so young and so very suddenly of a brain haemorrhage and Nigel Grace, (Paul's best friend), aged just 49 who lost his life in a very tragic accident. My dad has also recently been very seriously ill with Cancer, but thankfully he is now in the early stages of remission.

So in memory of my two dear friends, and to thank all the hospital staff who are helping my dad I have decided to try and raise £1,000 for the above charities.

Donate

A webpage has been set up on the "just giving" site if people would like to help us achieve our goal. You can choose which charity you would like to donate to or alternatively you can donate to ELAINE directly if you are not able to go on line or would prefer not to.

(There is also a sponsorship form in the White Hart Pub, if you would prefer to sponsor me this way)

Update - 4th September

We would like thank everyone who has very kindly donated money to us or sponsored us over the past few months. We are now very close to raising our target of £1000!

We are both eagerly awaiting our start date of 6th September and the BIG WALK, that has been months in the planning is now literally just a stone's throw away.

Some friends have asked if we could let them know the route we are planning to take, as they may like to meet up with us for a days walk. The route in September is as follows:

Update - 10th September

We are on schedule (just about!) We struggled yesterday with the heat and couldn't make it to Tinagel, but today we have just about caught up - we had to stop a mile short of Port Isaac, as the weather closed in very quickly but tomorrow we will be back on track and finishing in Rock... we will be being dropped off in Padstow on the Tuesday to save having to catch the ferry. So far we have had a lovely time and met some great people along the coastal path ...looking forward to more memories being made as our adventure continues.

Update - 14th September

We have today reached Porthtowan. The last few days have been a bit easier on the legs and the weather has been very kind. We had a little rain this morning for about half an hour and it has been a tad windy too, but other than that it has been ideal weather for walking in!

Can't believe we have nearly walked 100miles already but the 2 mad birds and a dog are still going strong...

Update - 21st September

Still having really good weather since the last update. We found it a bit tough going after St Ives as the footpath seemed to be made out of boulders. In some parts we thought we had taken on a mountaineering adventure not a long walk! We think Ruby may be related to a mountain goat somewhere as she has negotiated the boulders better than us!

We reached a milestone when we reached Lands End - still finding it hard to believe we have walked that far! We are heading towards the Lizard over the next few days - then it will be the home straight! Thank you to everyone who is supporting us.

Update - 27th September

We are now in Carlyon Bay and the end is definitely getting nearer now! We were on Dodman Point today and actually saw Plymouth right on the horizon. Sunday was quite horrendous weather when we left Chy Carne campsite In Ruan Minor and headed towards St Keverne with heavy rain and very high winds. We survived that day and since then the weather has not been too bad at all.

Our support team (Elaines mum and dad) have been wonderful setting up camp everyday with us and cooking usI a good hearty meal at the end of every day - thanks mum and dad! Donations are still coming our way and again a big thanks to everyone who is supporting us in this way. Elaine

Update - 1st October

Well, as you can see from the photos we have finally finished the multi marathon walk, reaching Cremyll at about 2pm on Sunday. We ended the walk with some very mixed emotions. Pleased for our legs that they could finally have a rest, but sad that it was all coming to an end.

It was brilliant to see friends, neighbours and family waiting for us, and aptly we crossed the 'POLICE DO NOT CROSS LINE' linking arms and running through the tape!

We let off 5 gold helium balloons at the end in memory of those we were walking for which brought tears all round. Then after a glass of well earned 'shampers' we left the milestone and headed home for some well earned rest.

Again, we cannot thank people enough for the generosity they have shown in supporting our charities. We will update this site as soon as we know exactly how much money has been raised.

Kindest regards and best wishes to you all, Elaine, Debs and Ruby
