Ofsted Inspection 2012

It's official, St Teath Pre-school is outstanding!

St Teath Pre-school has achieved the ultimate accolade from its recent inspection by Ofsted, the provision being awarded Grade 1 in all seventeen areas covered by the report. Ofsted defines Grade 1 as 'Outstanding; …exceptionally high quality.'

The Pre-school's Business Manager, Sarah Morey, said, 'Staff, parents and our committee have worked together over several years to build our provision and underpin it with thorough policies and procedures and excellent documentation. To have every aspect of our inspection achieve Grade 1 is a tremendous achievement.'

'Staff provide a highly stimulating, enabling environment where children learn through play. Resources are in excellent condition… Play areas are bright, welcoming and child-focussed.'

Ofsted reported that 'Children are happy and thrive in the exemplary care and attention. … Staff have extensive knowledge of children's individual needs and successfully promote inclusion. They have excellent relationships with parents and strong partnerships with others. This contributes significantly to children's welfare, learning and development.'

Mandy French, Pre-school Manager, is supported by assistants Tina Dungey, Nicky Halford and Lauren Williams. Their expertise is acknowledged in the Ofsted report which states that 'Staff provide a highly stimulating, enabling environment where children learn through play. Resources are in excellent condition… Play areas are bright, welcoming and child-focussed.' 'We're all delighted that Ofsted has recognised the quality of our provision' said Mandy. 'We are all totally committed to our work and aim to give the children in our care the very best opportunities to learn through play. We help children to develop independent personal skills so that when they move on to school, they are confident and well-prepared.'

The Ofsted report noted that parents have high regard for the Pre-school provision. Parent Jo Bass, who is also Secretary of the Pre-school's committee, said, 'The staff and facilities within the Pre-school are fantastic - both my boys love coming here.'
